Green Karst Trail – Bicycle adventure in nature

You’re invited to the 4th bikepacking challenge in the heart of the green Slovenian Karst!
Kilometres of macadam roads and cart tracks await you in the embrace of forests, across the
mysterious karst world, on bear tracks, over the land of intermittent lakes, quaint villages and between remote castles and mansions.

Mark your calendars! The Green Karst will start on Thursday, June 19, 2025, in the center of
Postojna, just 1 km from the world-famous Postojna Cave.

Participants will have 150 hours to successfully complete the challenge, although there is no time limit – everyone rides at their own pace. The route is circular!

The Green Karst Trail offers two routes:
– Green route: 300 km / 5,000 elev.
– Red route: 430 km / 6,500 elev.

GKT is not a competition, but a multi-day challenge for all lovers of endurance bikepacking.

The route of the GKT is not marked in nature, but each rider will receive a GPX track and a tracking device, allowing real-time tracking via www.bikeslovenia.si.

The recommended bike is either gravel or mtb. E-bikes are welcome.

There is no outside support, though free hot soup and water are available at »GKT Friendly points«.
